Locked in My Heart Display Tray

Hello crafters and welcome to the Club Scrap Lock and Key blog hop!

I'm glad you are stopping by my blog today.  Hasn't the inspiration so far been wonderful?

I have two projects for today.  All using the Club Scrap Lock and Key Collection.  The first I made my own version of the “Bag of Memories” Project from this month’s Club Scrap Magazine Page 4-5.  On the cover I used an embossed resist technique from Tim Holtz’ Creative Chemistry 102 online class.

The second project was inspired by the cut apart images included in each Club Scrap collection.  I made a Changeable Photo Display Tray using a pattern developed by Laura Denison as published in a Graphic 45 blog hop at this link.

I made a tray with chipboard cards to hold pictures.  Each card is wrapped with neutral patterned paper from Club Scrap basics collection. On one side I decorated the cut aparts using paints or ink.  Then I added my papers and embellishments from Lock and Key plus few supplies from my stash.  All the hearts were die cut from the red metallic paper in Club Scrap’s Tribal Kit.   I finished each with a ribbon tied binder clip.

On the back side I covered each with Lock and Key patterned paper.  When I add pictures I can mix and match the decorated and plain sides for a perfect display.  I can't wait to print my favorite pictures and put them on display at work.

Thank you for joining in the Blog Hop and for reading my post.  Here is a link to your next stop with Tiare at iClassyGirl.  Also, here is a link back to the start at Club Scrap Creates.
Happy Crafting!

Double Die Cut Thank You

Welcome to my entry in the Operation Write Home World Card Making Day Blog Hop.  For today's card I used the OWH sketch #81.

My Cards were made to use both parts of two diecuts.  The die cuts were a Spellbinders thin heart die in multiple shapes and the Sizzix alternations ornamental mover and shaper.

In Card 1 the key accent is from a Club Scrap Lock and Key Collection free printable.  Accents include glossy accents, Flourish dry embossing folder, Prima fluid chalk white, distress stain in antique bronze, metallic pencil in bronze, and distress ink vintage photo.

Card 2 has accents that include glossy accents, distress stain in antique bronze, metallic pencil in blue, and Antique Gold gilders paste.

Both cards use papers from Neenah and Club Scrap mat red paper.  The stamps are from Club Scrap.  The background technique is detailed in my post from yesterday.  I sealed the shimmery background with clear embossing power to enhance the shine.

Thanks,
Debby

Autumn and Winter Backgrounds

This post is about some techniques to create a mottled multicolored background.  I started out wanting to create an autumn colored background and ended up with a winter night background.  The autumn leaves were for a Club Scrap challenge.  I had extra card mats so I used them for a winter night background.  Come back tomorrow to see how I used the background to make two cards.
I wanted to create a neutral autumn background without any distinct lines.  So I used Tim Holtz wrinkle free distress technique.
  • Spots of Distress Paint Antique Linen and Antique Bronze on my craft sheet
  • Add Distress Ink from the pad in Fired Brick, Crushed Olive, Wild Honey, and Seedless Preserves
  • Sprayed generously with water
  • Wipe the ink up with heavy weight mixed media paper

I liked the result, but it was lighter than I wanted.  So I repeated the process with only the Distress ink and water.  Then I added embossed leaves using Club Scrap Stamps.

From this I created two fall cards with the backgrounds.  The papers are from Club Scrap paper.  The greetings are from the Club Scrap Peacock kit.

Next, I used extra light panels and a salt technique to make a winter night background.
  • Spray mat with water
  • Spray Memory Mist Blue Hawaii
  • Add Distress Stains in Brushed Pewter, Seedless Preserves, Evergreen Bough, Faded Jeans, and Dust Concord
  • Spray more water
  • And Spray Memory Mist Blue Hawaii
  • Sprinkle with coarse salt and allow to dry overnight
  • When dry remove salt
  • Cover the whole mat with clear embossing power to seal
Below is a detailed view of the background created.

Come back tomorrow to see how I used this background for the Operation Write Home World Card Making Day Blog Hop.
